Today was absolutely CRAZY, but I was bound and determined to make it to Jason Castro's first debut in Rockwall since being on American Idol. First off, it was crazy of me to even think about going to this event with a two-year old and a fourteen-month old. Shawn was out of town for the evening! But, like I said earlier, I was bound and determied. So, me and my friend from school decided that we were going to head out to the Harbor to save a spot. I get out to the school parking lot, turn the key, and car would NOT turn over. I knew it was the battery from the start. So, I jump in my friend's car and we set out for the Harbor like planned. We got there and spead out our big comforter on the grass, and headed back up to the school. My assistant principal comes out with jumper cables and off I go. I pick up the kids, get them inside and ready for the big evening. We go outside and before I even think to put them in the car; I wanted to make sure my SUV would start. Click, click, click...BAD BATTERY! I call my friend and she comes to pick me up and we caught the shuttle bus from our church over to see Castro. It was blazing hot outside, and everyone was there, but it was all worth it. We had a decent view from where we were all standing, and I was glad to be with friends from school. Wes Hamilton, one of our pastors, spoke with Jason up on stage. He talked about Jason's faith and how that separated him from others. People always made rude comments about him and questioned if he smoked marijuana, but truthfully, he was just very taken back and humbled by the whole American Idol experience. When I got home me and the kids all took a shower together (haven't done that before), but they were so tired. It was an hour past Jaxon's bed time, and about thirty-minutes past Faith's. While I was brushing their teeth and reading to them; their poor little eyes could barely stay open. Faith was glad when we said our prayers because she was able to close her eyes. Hopefully our Jason will become a legend one day and I can tell the kids all about Jason Castro Day!
