Birthday Party Weekend

This weekend we headed to my mom's house to celebrate Uncle Lyn's birthday along with Eric's birthday (a friend of my oldest sister, Maria). The plan was for all of us to meet up at mom's and leave later on that evening for an exciting dinner at Edohana's in Fort Worth. We did so much this weekend that it is easier if I just put captions below the pictures! On the way to my mom's house, we always pass by my first college, TWU. I lived in both of the dorms pictured above. I usually spend the rest of my drive reminiscing about college life and all the good times I had. I must say college was truly one of the best times of my life!! The hall on the left is Guinn Hall and that is where I started off my college career living. Would you believe I lived on the VERY TOP FLOOR...yep! The hall on the right is Stark Hall. I moved out of Guinn Hall to live with my good friend, Jenee (Pugh) Prewitt, that I met at TWU. I just recently got her a job at HARTMAN Elementary and she teaches fifth grade. I miss my old roomie! I also remember my grandparents travelling to Denton from New York to visit me when I lived in Stark Hall. That was the last time I saw my grandpa before he died...we all believe he came to visit, spontaneously, because he knew the end was coming. He was truly the best lawyer in all of NYC. His firm is still around today. This was also the point in my life when Shawn proposed to me...we were only nineteen when I got married. Yes, honey, your proposal was the best one yet....He takes a lot of pride in the creativeness and time put into his proposal, but that's another blog for another day! This was also the point in my life where God said NO to playing college basketball. This was my dream, I played at Longview High School, a 5A team that made it to State twice and set many records (still lingering around today). I thought I was destined to play basketball for a very long time, but like I said, God closed that door. Man, do I sure miss college sometimes, but I honestly wouldn't trade the life I have now to go back to college! For those that read my previous blogs, this is my mom holding up her Grandparent's Day Gift from Faith. Grandpa was sleeping after a long, hard night! So, we went ahead and just gave it to Grandma. How do you like my mom's shirt---LOL! Relax, it's a Nesquik shirt!
Faith and Grandma headed out to mom's garden. My mom's garden is like therapy for her and this is also the place where she spends a lot of time talking to God.
Mom is very excited about her baby pineapple...she can't wait for it to get bigger! At the park with Grandma...Jaxon could spend all day in a swing.
Here's our little rock-climbing girl...
Taken a little dip in the pool...

Uncle Lyn and Aunt Gina had just arrived!!!

They are totally lovin' their new Jeep Commander!
Marilyn lost her first tooth...the Tooth Fairy came that night to visit.
Is this one of the prettiest girls or what...
Mason, Jaxon, Marilyn and Faith (Sweet Cousins).

Uncle Lyn does this with all the kids...it's totally a traditional thing...Jaxon is making sure he's not going to hit the fan.
Clapping for the chef at Edohana's....he also received a nice bruise on a toy before we left--ALL BOY!
Marilyn and Faith watching the fishes in the foyer...
