A Day of Remembrance

Do you remember where you were and what you were doing the moment you found out about 9/11? I certainly do, and I shared this today with my students after they did a quick-write on the very same question posed above.

Today, after school, me and the kids headed over to the main McKinney Fire station. We came bearing gifts of sugar, too, coupled with a thank you card. At first I was going to bake my heart out, but then I thought that I better buy something from the bakery, because I could be some crazy person who put poison in the dessert. The kids had a good time and the fireman were very excited to see the treats we brought them. They were very appreciative and thanked us over and over again. I thought this was the least we could do for all they do for our community. Faith and Jaxon received stickers, and of course, I couldn't pass up the offer to take pictures on the back of the fire truck.

Tonight in your prayers, if you haven't already, please pray for those serving in our communities, over-seas, and for our nation as a whole. Pray for those families who are still mourning the loss of their loved ones 7 years ago on this day.
Jaxon and Fireman, Bill.
Fireman Bill was pretty tall...they couldn't help but to stare at him.
