Pumpkin Make-Over

Let me preface this post by saying this. Last night Jaxon was up coughing, coughing, coughing, so needless to say nobody in our family really got that REM sleep that was much needed. This morning I was still sleeping and Shawn was doing his normal routine with the kids. As they were eating breakfast both were pretty lethargic and laying down while eating their blueberry waffles. Jaxon was on the cranky side..BIG TIME...not our normal happy boy. So, I decided that it would be good for me and the kids to stay home and get some much-needed rest and rejuvenation. We all slept in until 9 A.M., and sat in our P.J.'s with a bowl of oatmeal in our bed. I love those kind of mornings! After sleeping and eating, Faith and Jaxon still had their allergy-drainage mess, but they were new kids in terms of their attitudes. So by 10:30 things were seeming to be back to normal. So, I decided since I took THE WHOLE DAY OFF that we would start getting our pumpkins ready.

I blogged a couple of weeks ago recommending a book called, The Pumpkin Gospel by Mary Manz Simon. I was excited to read this book one page at a time while we spent time with our pumpkins this morning. Captions below the pictures are taken from some of The Pumpkin Gospel.

Our big round pumpkins show us that God gives us a clean start.
Wash me until I am clean and whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7

Checking out the insides...Jaxon said, "Yuck," and Faith said, "Eww!"

The slime that fills the pumpkins, all stringy slipp'ry goo, reminds us of our insides before God makes us new.

Now you are set free from sin. Romans 6:18

It's cleaned out for the most part.

We scoop the mushy gushies like God cleans out our sin. When he says, "I forgive you," we smile a great big grin.

Our God, you bless everyone whose sins you forgive and wipe away. Psalm 32:1

Come look into our pumpkins, they're all clean inside. And outside they're wearing a smile that's big and wide. Shout praises to the Lord! Psalm 149:1Jaxon picked out the ghost stencil for his pumpkin...I outlined it in black so it would kind of resemble a ghost...

To glow like our big pumpkins and have a nice clean heart, ask God to please forgive you. You'll have a brand new start.

You are like light for the whole world. Matthew 5:14

What a great morning we've had!! Thank you, Jesus!
