Christmas Tree Lighting

For the past two years, we've attended, McKinney's, Dickens of a Christmas. The city goes all out and decorates every square inch of downtown. In addition, they always hold their annual Christmas tree lighting. It was so sweet to listen to the kids sing along with all the other carolers. We can't believe the holidays are already here...time is going by too fast! And, while we're on the subject of things we can't believe...read this conversation that Faith had with a new, adult friend that night:

African American Lady-I love your snowman dress, it is so beautiful!

Faith-Thank you....long pause and elevator eyes...You are brown all over!!!

Mommy: embarrassed, anxious, sweating, and the list goes on and on...

AA Lady-That's because Jesus loved us SO MUCH that He made us all different colors.

Faith-Yeah, that's why I am white all over.

Is anyone else out there walking on egg shells with the fear of what their child might say???

Not the greatest picture...but you get the idea.

Bless that sweet lady's heart for saying the perfect words to Faith. I love that story and what a lesson she learned...even though Mommy was a bit embarrassed!
