Last Wednesday was deemed one of the most exciting days of my teaching career. As you can tell from the title of this post, I was named the 2009-2010 teacher of the year from the faculty and staff at my school. So many floods of emotions crossed my path that day. The whole experience was bittersweet. While I was humbled and grateful for this wonderful honor; I couldn't help but think about the amazing, exemplary teachers that I work with that definitely deserved this honor as well. This reoccurring question entered my mind several times that day, "How do you pick just one teacher?" This was incorporated into the impromptu speech that I gave after the flabbergasting news. At the end of the speech, I told my colleagues that I wanted to thank the Lord for this incredible experience. He is the reason why I am able to wake up each and everyday, He is the smile on my face, and He is the one who gives me daily wisdom and discernment. All the glory goes to Him and Him alone.
So now my life is a little consumed with filling out the wonderful packet for the upcoming interviews for Secondary District Teacher of the Year. My principal told me on Wednesday that the paperwork was due on Monday, but luckily when I received the paperwork; I found out that it wasn't due until the 19th--Phew! Glad I was able to buy some time.
The yearbook/journalism teacher took some pictures and sent them to me...this is what I've posted below.
A sweet hug from my principal, Patsy Turner (PT-Cruiser).
