Long before the summer was even here, Shawn and I talked about our summer plans for a family vacation. After much conversation, we decided to go to Silver Dollar City/Branson , MO as we've always heard there were so many fun things to do. So, being the Type A, planner person that I am; I got busy researching and emailing friends who were frequent tourists of the area. Then, almost half of the summer was gone, we moved, and revisited our plans once more. The final consensus was to take a raincheck on the Missouri trip, and just have fun with the kids around here. Today, our little staycation began--Grandma Sheryl came up to spend time with us, as well. This morning, our first stop was to Burger's Lake in Fort Worth...what a cute little getaway! I felt like a kid again going down the slides and swinging my way into the water. After lunch, we travelled over to Glen Rose, TX to hit up Dinosaur World. If you remember, last year we went to Fossil Rim in GR, pulled up to Dinosaur World only to find two sleeping kiddos in the back seat. The kids loved seeing all the replica dinosaurs, getting fossils, and playing on the dino playground. Our last stop of the day was Czech Bakery in West, TX. If you're ever travelling Southbound on 35, just outside Hillsboro, this bakery has pretty much everything, but I highly recommend their pecan rolls. Shawn brought these rolls home to me when he came home from coaching school last year, and it was love at first bite. What a great day we had together--I'm so glad that we decided to go this route for this summer.
