Kicking the Habit

At our recent trip to the dentist I reported that Faith still likes to suck her thumb at night on occasion. She's been a thumb-sucker for years now--and we've tried a lot of different things recommended to us. Some nights we'll go in there and there is no thumb in her mouth, and other nights we'll go in there and we see the thumb in her mouth and gently pull it out. So, we now have two, little thumb guards that we put on her hands each night for the next month and a half. She gets to choose what color bands she wants each night, so that keeps it interesting. At first she did not like the guards at all because they made her hands hot, but after three nights of wearing them; she got used to it. The thumb guards have a 90% success rate, so we shall see. The good news is that Faith has no crossbites, but when her permanent teeth come in, we need this habit to have already been kicked. We are hopeful and continue to pray for our sweet Faith to be done with her thumb at nights.

Girl, I sucked my thumb till I was six or so. My parents tried everything. One day I think it just clicked, and I stopped. Good luck with Faith! Those guards look nifty!
