Ice Skating-Lessons One and Two

We signed Faith and Jaxon up for a four-week class of iceskating at Allen Community Ice.  I thought it would be fun for the kids and it would help foster more coordination and balance skills.  Faith's bus-riding buddy, Duncan, signed up for the same class, as well.  Going into this, I wasn't sure how the kids would react or even do, so I was a bit nervous, but still very curious. Before lessons, Faith and Jaxon loved watching the Zamboni resurface the ice, but they were anxious to start. Lesson one was to get the kids acclimated to the ice and ice skates...they also learned some dos and donts.

First rule:  Don't put your hands in your pockets.  Second rule:  Don't try to reach for someone else if you fall.
Third rule:  Fall back on your bottom.  Fourth rule:  Have fun!

Off they go!

Jaxon and Faith both fell, but Jaxon spent A LOT of his time on the ice, just like this picture portrays.  I will say that he was a trooper and smiled while getting up everytime.

The good news at the end of this practice was that both kids loved ice skating and they were so excited for next Thursday.  Fast forward...

Lesson Two:  What a major improvement for both kids this week.  Jaxon stayed up almost the entire time and did so good.  Miss Faith started doing 380-turns and  skating backwards along with Duncan.
