Unending Love

Yesterday, Faith had a difficult day at school making good choices. This morning, as I was fixing Faith's hair on our bed, she asked, "Mommy, do you and Daddy still love me when I make naughty choices?" "Of course we love you, Faith, there is nothing in this world that will ever stop us from loving you." (At this point, I stopped fixing her hair so I could look her straight in the eyes.) Then, she said, "Will you still love me if I hit you?" "I would be very disappointed, but I would definitely still love you, Faith," I replied. "Will you still love me if I call you a name?" Again, I answered the same way I did to the first question. So, she continued with several more scenarios and finally realized that our love just wouldn't budge.

I thought this would be a perfect time to talk to her about God's never-ending love for us. We talked about that love coupled with God's grace. It was such a beautiful conversation to have with my sweet girl.

I've been singing this song with Faith and Jaxon each night (posted below). It's a song by Andrew Peterson, and if you haven't stumbled upon his music; he is definitely one to listen to. I absolutely love his new song, Dancing in the Minefields, it totally reminds me of a small part of my journey with Shawn.

I love you today and I love you tomorrow
I love you as deep as the sea
I love you in joy and I love you in sorrow
You can always come home to me

There once was a man who found him a treasure
Buried out under a tree
He sold all he had just to own it forever
The treasure is you, you see

I love you today and I love you tomorrow
I love you as deep as the sea
I love you in joy and I love you in sorrow
You can always come home to me

There once were some sheep safe on the farm
And one little lamb got loose
The shepherd went out and carried it home
That little lamb is you

I love you today and I love you tomorrow
I love you as deep as the sea
I love you in joy and I love you in sorrow
You can always come home to me

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
