Scum...

That's the only part of the word I heard when the doctor diagnosed Faith with Molluscum this morning. Our princess woke up itching at 5 A.M. with red bumps all over her arms. These bumps were not present anywhere else, so I ruled out chicken pox, until I talked to my school nurse on the phone. She told me that chicken pox present themselves in different ways than they did when I was younger. After looking at dozens of disgusting google images of chicken pox online, not only did I rule it out again, but lost my appetite as well. YUCK! I think all the pictures of the people who were never vaccinated pulled up first, because there weren't any minor cases floating around.
Molluscum is a viral infection on the skin, and is the toughest to get rid of...the bumps could stay on her arms for MONTHS without scarring, praise the Lord. Sunlight and warmth are both enemies to molluscum. She's got a mild case and the doctor even wrote her a note permitting her back to school tomorrow.
Our kids are NEVER sick, in fact, we only visit the doctor when it's time for a well check visit; so we're definitely counting our blessings with Mr. Molluscum.
