Ash Wednesday Service

While lent is not mentioned in the Bible, focused seasons of sacrifice and repentence are definitely supported.  Jeff Warren, my former pastor, said, "The ashes are to remind you of your mortality and of the need to repent of sin in your life." 



So, tonight, Shawn and I went to our church's Ash Wednesday service.  It was a great time of worship, prayer, repentence, and deep silence (we aren't still too often).  Upon entering, each person received ashes on the hand or on their forehead.    We took communion and nailed our sins to the cross that evening.
