Labor Day Weekend

Friday evening when we got home; I had already decided that I wanted to take the kids out for breakfast in the morning. I had two places in mind that I wanted to try with the kids. So, Saturday morning, we woke up, got dressed, and headed out the door. Our first stop was to Benny's Bagels, but when I pulled into a parking spot, I noticed that the line was backed up to the door. So, we took a raincheck. We left and went onto Plan B, The Egg Basket Cafe. Unfortunately, the line to this place was backed up all the way outside. People had their dogs leashed around the newspaper stands! It was only 8 A.M. for cryin' out loud, I couldn't believe how many people were up!!! Go back to bed, are you crazy for being up this early? I thought that only elderly people and mommy's were up this early! So, we took another raincheck and settled for breakfast burritos and french toast sticks from Sonic! We also went by Wal-Mart to do a little grocery shopping, and I bought the kids the game, Don't Spill the Beans. That's all we've been playing these days! Anytime the beans tip over both kids yell, "Uh Oh!"

Later on that afternoon when Shawn arrived home, we went to Frisco. I had coupons for this place to perform a State Inspection on my SUV, and I was really craving On The Border, the one restaurant that McKinney doesn't have. After the inspection, we had a nice dinner at OTB, and then we patronized Ben and Jerry's!! YUM! Before bed time, the kids had fun catching bubbles!
Check out Jaxon, he's trying to catch the bubbles on his tongue.

A couple of weeks ago, Shawn and I spotted an old historical bridge in McKinney, while on our way to Super Target. I commented to Shawn how cute some black and white pictures of the kids would look on that bridge. This morning, I got the kids dressed and we made our way to the bridge. The kids had fun running up and down...it reminded me of Jesse and Leslie in Bridge to Terabithia when I saw Faith and Jaxon spinning round and round. Then, we went downtown and took pictures of some of the old historical houses. Faith had so much fun! She would tell me the colors of the houses and the shapes of the doors, windows, etc. Jaxon would just babble right along with her. I would absolutely LOVE to have an old Victorian, fixer-upper house one day! I think there is a lot of beauty in them. When Shawn got home from football practice, we went Hutchins BBQ, and then we took the kids to Finch Park. All in all, we had a great and relaxing weekend!

Everyone will tell you that this is the best BBQ in town!!!

WILD Hair!!!

Side note: Today Jaxon decided that he wanted to use the potty like his sister! He took his diaper off and made his way to the potty! I couldn't believe it...he's only 17 months old!! I'm really in no rush because he's my last baby, but the boy didn't want to get off the potty. He screamed when I took him off. He tinkled several times...while I was proud of him and his persistence; I was sad at the same time. I wasn't even going to start potty-training him until this March. YIKES!
My Big Boy...

Thank you for your patience through all the blogging and pictures...this should put me ahead of the game for quite a while :) We hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend!

Your pics of the kids are great. Tom and I share your love for older homes. We think it would be cool one day to have a home and make a bed and breakfast out of it. Maybe even make it a place for small scale marriage retreats. One year for our anniversary we actually went to Jefferson, TX and toured the old homes. It was great.
We got married in a old restored one aisle church on a plantation with several old homes. Thanks for sharing.
