Deer on His Rear

Okay, so ever since I blogged about Elf on the Shelf, we decided that we would adopt the tradition. I know Faith grasps the concept, but Jaxon will probably have to wait until next year. While making our way through many stores this holiday we have yet to find an elf to be apart of our family. We decided that all the elves must be too busy making toys for all the good little boys and girls of the world. Thankfully, the reindeers don't have too much to do until Christmas Eve. So...we've adopted Fred the Reindeer (the name was given to him by none other than Faith). And, thanks to my witty husband, he has coined the tradition as, Deer on His Rear, in lieu of, Elf on the Shelf. So far, Fred has come all the way from the North Pole to "nest" on our entertainment center, and, on another night, on top of our kitchen cabinets. He's been known to make appearances in other places, as well. Every morning when Faith wakes up she gets so excited to find where Fred may be. Jaxon just wants to hold and cuddle with him, but pouts because we won't let him touch Fred. As the tradition goes, we tell Faith that each night Fred goes back to the North Pole to report to Santa if she and Jaxon have been naughty or nice, and in the morning, he comes back to watch them all over again. Faith talks to Fred quite a bit and has even offered to polish his "nails," give him a snack, and play dolls with her. It's pretty funny and entertaining to listen to the one-way conversation.
