Happy, Crappy Birthday to me...

This week and weekend, I've battled this cough/cold, coupled with sporadic fever. For my birthday, Shawn and I had planned on going to The Melting Pot. Well, Shawn called to make sure they would have room for us but they were all booked. Obviously my birthday is a little too close to Valentine's Day (February 13th). So, we settled for Shogun, although I really wanted to branch away from being a creature of habit, hence the reason why I wanted Melting Pot so bad. I didn't think much about my cough/cold until I took my first bite of fried rice. I COULDN'T taste it at all....none of it...not the veggies, chicken, shrimp, etc. UGH! It was as if I had been popping zinc tablets to purposely loose my taste...it was pretty sad! Shawn even asked me if I wanted dessert and I even had to turn that down...if you know me, that doesn't happen very often. Saturday morning (Valentine's Day), I had UIL competition with my Editorial Writing students. They provided us with breakfast and lunch...still no sense of taste. Shawn wanted to take us out for a Valentine's dinner, but I sadly declined. We just stayed in and watched love movies all night long. I gave Shawn an Admiration Journal that I had been writing in for him. For two nights in a row, I quarantined myself to the couch so I wouldn't get anyone sick. So, all in all, the weekend has been a bummer. I don't really like to be a Debbie Downer so I'll start talking about some positive things:

-I'm thankful I've just had this small sickness and not the flu or some strange virus.
-I'm thankful my family is not sick and it was just me for the most part (Faith was constipated all day yesterday, probably because she ate too much junk at her V-Day party). This morning she said, "Mommy, my poop doesn't hurt anymore."
-In Editorial Writing for the District UIL competition we landed the first place spot-I'm so proud of my students!
-We are going to the Melting Pot for Shawn's birthday next month and I plan on tasting every bite of fondue!

Here are some pics from Friday and Saturday:

Faith's been learning about different presidents at school in honor of President's Day.

Introducing, George Washington....and when you flip him over, you'll meet...

Abraham Lincoln
Faith was feeding Jaxon some Japanese soup...

Sorry you weren't feeling well on you Bday!! Mine is coming up this week as well and since I've been so sick myself this first trimester I'm not sure I'll have the appetite to go celebrate either!:) Maybe we should go celebrate together in a few weeks! :) Love ya!
