Ron Clark Weekend

There are so many things I could blog in regards to this weekend. First off, I had an amazing time and my eyes were open to many things. I feel so blessed and fortunate to be able to go on this trip, a dream for any educator. I also enjoyed getting to know Kelly and Tammie more! I'm not going to ramble on and give detail after detail, but I will tell you what we did in a nutshell. Here was the itinerary:

Friday:

-Check-In and visiting time with Ron Clark.

-Ron Clark presentation

-Program put on by Ron Clark's kids (They also performed their Dear Obama song for us). We gave them a standing ovation as there were some rude people who called them monkeys and orangutans on their YouTube video. Ron said every last one of his kids balled their eyes out, but continue to be brave.

Saturday-

-Workshop with Kim (co-founder of RCA)

-Tour of the school

-Slide Certification

-We watched Ron teach his kids in his very own classroom

-PROM

Sunday-

-Game Time with other teachers

-Q&A with Ron

-Book Signing and Purchase Time

-We arrived back to Texas @ 5:45 P.M.

Me and Ron at PROM...a little story about the dress. I planned on wearing an actual up-to-date prom dress. Well, we got a letter from Ron a couple of days before the conference saying that we could dress nice OR tacky. My vote was still to dress nice...well, my principal thought it would be funny for us to dress tacky. So....she took three red dresses from the drama closet and that's what we wore. They were definitely frumpy and tacky! Kelly forgot to try on her dress before leaving Texas and tried it on in Georgia...it didn't fit--oops! So, she just wore a nice shirt and pants...what a trooper!!

Graffiti was everywhere around the school, but the school has always remained unharmed...

I was sad to leave, but glad to get home. I missed Shawn, Faith, and Jaxon SO MUCH! Shawn has literally been with the kids for three weekends in a row due to my busy calendar...I'm so thankful God gave him to me!

Gifts for the kids...Faith is very much into fashion, so I bought her the shirt above...Jaxon LOVES airplanes, so he got one. It's definitely a noise-maker!! Excuse the tired eyes and weird looking hair...these were taken this morning! I learned that there really isn't anything to buy a husband in a gift shop, so Shawn received some cookies! The key to a man's heart is through his belly, right? :)
