This semester has been such a blessing to me. As most of you know, we moved last summer from Rockwall to McKinney. And, while I absolutely love living in McKinney, I have really missed many of my dear friends from Lake Pointe Church. This semester we did a five-month study on a book by Dr. John Trent and Gary Smalley called, The Blessing. Now, I'll be the first one to admit that I have posted a lot of books on my blog that I highly recommend, but this one takes the cake. I really believe that this book can transform lives, but I will let the link above do all the talking. All of this to say, the wives all got together and planned this amazing, blessing night for our husbands. The ambiance was absolutely perfect, our wedding songs were playing as we enjoyed our catered-in meal from Chiloso's. We listened to Kurt and Olivia Bruner speak to us about the blessing, and they gave our husbands some practical things they could do with our children to help establish the blessing from a father's POV. They are also the authors of, The Family Compass and Olivia wrote, The Minivan Years: Celebrating the Hectic Joys of Motherhood. Shawn really had a great time and was thoroughly impressed with everything we did for all the husbands. There was also a time cut out where we got to present our husbands with a gift, encompassing the blessing. It was truly a special and intimate time shared. Jen Gillaspie and I put together a slideshow of all the families that have taken this journey along with us. In fact, the song you might be listening to now was a very powerful song that was placed in the slideshow last night. I truly believe this was a night that changed all of our lives in one way or another, and will continue changing lives in the generations to come.
Being confident of this very thing, that he who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

Here's all the girls...thanks for tagging this on FB, Jenny! My picture of the ladies didn't turn out too good.

These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts-impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

What a wonderful night and such a good idea. I am slowly becoming a better reader. I will need to get my hands on that book! :-)
