The next morning we woke up bright and early to a wonderful breakfast in our hotel. They had some of the best cinnamon rolls I had ever tasted! Then, we were back on the road again for our trip to Pensacola, Florida. We spent about two hours that morning at the National Museum of Naval Aviation, and our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative; as he worked on some of the planes displayed there in World War II. If you know me, you know that I am all about trivial trivia, so I was excited that I learned some new, nerdy things. They also had a huge IMAX theater there showing movies every hour. We stopped at their gift shop and bought Jaxon an airplane of his own. After perusing through Pensacola for a bit, we drove back to Foley, Alabama to have lunch at Lambert’s Cafe, Home of the Throwed Rolls. Shawn and I definitely had more than we could ever eat; we felt pretty guilty about leaving all of that food at our table, but what we did eat was DELISH! We went back to the hotel and took a nice, long nap, woke up, took a stroll on the beach, and did some more sight-seeing. We were told by other people in the city that Godfather’s Pizza was the best in town, so we ate there for dinner and watched TV on our mini-flat screen in our booth. Everyone was right, the pizza was pretty amazing and it reminded us of Pizza King back home in Longview. That evening we went to Applebee’s and shared dessert and then made our way to Old Time Pottery.
We had a great trip and we can’t wait to take the kids one of these summers when it’s a bit warmer. Most importantly, we had a great get-a-way together, and we thank the Lord for safe travels and continued love, joy and blessings in our journey of marriage.
