God is so GOOD! I love how our children's minister orchestrates VBS and it totally makes sense. Most parents of kids that come from unchurched homes aren't going to necessarily feel comfortable taking their kids to a church for a couple of hours. They are more apt to drop off their kids at a house in their neighborhood or to someone they know personally. Growing up and being a pastor's daughter, and VBS attender all my life, you would mainly see church kids and not a lot of visitors. But, if we are going to GO and BE the church and SHOW the world, Jesus; then we've got to go out into the community and do our parts.
So, this year we were at the Byrd Host Home. We consistently had about 18 kids there each day, and about half of the kids were unchurched and had never heard about Jesus before. Out of all the host homes, there were about 770 kids with 304 kids not going to church AT ALL! I had the privilege of heading up the music for our BBBB. I love teaching kids through music and it was fun to teach them all the fun hand motions, too! These songs and Bible stories will forever be in the hearts of my children, who both attended, as well as children all over our community. We brought our friend, Kailee Critchfield, and her parents said that she had a blast and has been singing the songs to them at home. Each day, there was a new story, song, scripture, and sea creature--I love themes! I am already praying about hosting next year at our new house.
