Today seemed like a long day but a day that was so inspirational and motivational. If you read my blog from yesterday, you know that Ron Clark came to speak to us at our district convocation. WOW! He gets better and better everytime I hear him speak. After convocation, we went out to lunch, headed back to the school for a staff picture, had a short meeting, and I went home for the day. When we got back home, me, Faith and Jaxon were playing with every toy that we owned, reading books, playing on Faith's pink computer, etc. After all of that, I found myself laying down on the couch while watching Faith show Jaxon how to put her 24-piece Pooh and Friends puzzle together. Sometime while all of this was going on, I dozed off into REM world! From what I can gather, I was out for about 15-20 minutes or so...yes, my REM kicks in really fast! But, I woke up to something so precious. First, Faith had covered me up with her blanket and made sure her babydoll was right by my side. Here is what really woke me up, though, Faith got ahold of some wipes and she started to "wash" my feet. She was very gentle and at this point she started speaking in her sweet, motherly voice. I was awake, but I didn't let her know it, because I wanted to see what else she would say or possibly do. But, as I laid there, cognizant, I couldn't help but think about the story in the Bible where Jesus washed his disciples feet. Here was a sinless man knowing that his time here on earth was an hour away. But, all that was on his mind was His love for the people and for his disciples. He did a job that no one wanted to do...washing dirty feet. (Still pretending to be asleep, I did hear Faith say, "Mommy, you feet are yucky!" They were a bit dirty due to me wearing sandals and walking in puddles on the way to convocation this morning. Jesus Christ was such a true character of humility and continues to show his love for me each and every day. I feel so privileged to serve such a loving, humble, sacrificing Father!
Thank you, Jesus, and thank you for using the washing of my feet today to serve as a simple reminder of who you are, and who you will always be in my life! In Jesus Name, Amen.
P.S. I know I take pictures of EVERYTHING, but, no, I didn't take pictures of my clean feet :)
Here's Ron Clark being silly...getting ready to bust a move!
