Although today was not my first official day of school; it was Faith and Jaxon's first day. All week long I have new teacher stuff, workdays, and our District Convocation. Next week is Academy Week as they call it in McKinney, and then the first day of school is August 25th.
We started off the morning by praying a verse with the kids from Isaiah 41:10--Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. I also took a prayer from Stormie OMartian's, The Power of a Praying Parent. She has several prayers in this book that you can pray for each stage of your child's growth. I felt it necessary to pray the prayer of Security and Protection over Faith and Jaxon this morning. After we prayed Faith kept asking if she was going to see Chloe, Hailey, and Mariah (friends from her Rockwall daycare). It broke my heart to tell her that we would not be seeing those friends today, although we have discussed this on many different occasions. I told her that she would be making some new friends today.
I took the kids to their rooms and the director handed me their calendars for the month. I knew Faith and Jaxon would have a great time today and for the days ahead of them. They do so many fun things each and every day. Today was Cooking Day for Faith, so they made several little things. She told me she made some nachos for snack time today. In Jaxon's room, they learned some new nursery rhymes and did some other fun activities.
Of course when I picked up Faith and Jaxon, Faith told me all about her wonderful day. She seemed like she had a great day. The best part is that the little school they go to is right in front of my school, so I can literally WALK over there if I wanted to make a little visit.
We take First Day of School pictures every year to go that go in a special FDOS album, so I thought I would post some of those. To all my friends and family, have a great year!
