Let's rewind a little, though. All week long Shawn has been telling me that he has been craving some good old catfish, but we really don't have any catfish places in McKinney or the surrounding areas. So, we planned on visiting with the Gillaspie's on Friday for a bit, and going to this catfish place that some people "recommended" to Shawn. Jen asked us what we were doing later on and I told her that we were headed to eat catfish at some place off 635. We asked Shawn what the name of the place was, but he "couldn't remember," but knew where it was. Little did I know he had a little surprise for me in the making.
Rewind again...most of you remember the blog I posted a couple of weeks ago entitled, Happy, Crappy Birthday. We were supposed to go to The Melting Pot for my birthday dinner, but they had no room on their reservation list for us (my birthday is too close to V-day). We went to Shogun's instead. I had an upper-respiratory infection and couldn't taste ANYTHING. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it until I had my first bite of Shogun fried rice! UGH! The next evening was Valentine's and once again Shawn wanted to take me out to eat, but I sadly declined due to my fouled up taste buds.
Fast-forward....so, we're travelling along 635 and take a left on Beltline-headed toward Addison. Shawn kept telling me that the address of this catfish place was 4900 Beltline, so to be looking closely. Well, it turns out that 4900 Beltline Road is The Melting Pot. I totally had no clue and it was a pleasant and tasty surprise. The kids were with us and absolutely loved the fondue. They liked watching us cook all the different kinds of meats. When I think back on not being able to go to the Melting Pot on my birthday, I am so thankful. Everything was too good not to be able to taste, so thank you Melting Pot for booking up so fast on my birthday! And, thank you to my sweet, sweet husband for making my weekend with a great surprise! I Love You!
