The Pumpkin Gospel

We adopted this little tradition last year using the book, The Pumpkin Gospel, by Mary Manz Simon. It's such a great way to teach the kids how God transforms us into to new creations to shine for Him. We a great time we had as a family carving pumpkins and learning about how great our God truly is.

Italicized captions are taken straight from the book.

Our big round pumpkins show us that God gives us a clean start.

Wash me until I am clean and whiter than snow. Psalms 51:7

The slime that fills the pumpkins, all stringy slipp'ry goo, reminds us of our insides before God makes us new.

Now you are set free from sin. Romans 6:18

Checking out the clean pumpkins.

We scoop the mushy gushies like God cleans out our sin. When he says, "I forgive you," we smile a great big grin.

Our God, you bless everyone whose sins you forgive and wipe away. Psalms 32:1

Come look into our pumpkins, they're all clean inside. And outside they're wearing a smile that's big and wide.

Shout praises to the Lord! Psalms 149:1

To glow like our big pumpkins and have a nice clean heart, ask God to please forgive you. You'll have a brand new start.

You are like light for the whole world. Matthew 5:14

I bought this book last year after you talked about it on your blog! It's so precious! I can't wait to read it to Landon when we carve pumpkins! Keep passing on those great ideas!! :)
