Today, Shawn and I attended a marriage seminar at our church. Our church provided childcare for the duration of the seminar. Our speakers were Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, authors of many marriage books out there. What a delightful couple to hear speak--they are so wise and knowledgeable, but in a humble kind of way. Our hope was to take away one or two things that we could use in our marriage to continue to grow. And, we were able to learn just that while picking up a few other things, too. They gave us two, new activities to tackle our next few date nights, and we will also have to take advantage of some of their free assessments on http://www.realrelationships.com/. What a wonderful day spent with my handsome man!
I loved how they started off the seminar with this quote:
"If you try to build intimacy with another person before getting whole on your own--all your relationships become an attempt to complete yourself. No one was designed to complete you...only in a relationship with Jesus Christ can this be fulfilled." (Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott)
Did you know???
When your spouse walks through the door after a long day of work, the first sixty-seconds sets the tone for the REST of the evening.
The divorce rate is the highest in our country when there are teenagers in the house.
Women: When men were interviewed, the number one thing (besides you-know-what) that men want us to do is to share an activity with them. For example, running, building something together, etc.
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 1 John 4:18
