Stewards in the Making

One month has come and gone since we started implementing allowance with Faith and Jaxon. We used what we learned through reading, Raising Money Smart Kids.  Here's what we're doing:

Faith and Jaxon get two dollars/week times their age, making their monthly total the following: (Faith=$10, Jaxon $8). A month ago we talked to the kids about the importance of tithing, and then we had a chat about saving money as well. At the beginning of the month, each child tithed a dollar (Jaxon's going over and beyond--hehe!), and each child put a dollar in their savings bank. The remainder of the money can be taken away by not abiding by three things we lined out for them, and obviously, if all goes well; they could keep all of it. At the end of the year, we're also matching what they keep in savings if they elect not to spend that money. Shawn made a handy, little, color-coded, excel document to help us keep track and to show the kids, as well.

I snapped a couple of pictures of Shawn talked to both of the kids, separately, about April's losses and gains.
